Yay!! The proposal defense and general exam went smashingly.  After I get a few signatures and have a short meeting with the dean, I will be an official candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree!  Yay! Now the only thing left is to do the rest of my research and write up the results.  Very exciting.

To celebrate the occasion I have posted a picture of my Christmas tree, decorated this past Friday. It is rather majestic, I think, and using toys that I had around the house as ornaments worked out well.  Happy Christmas!

Ah, now I can sleep the sleep of one who has successfully defended her proposal.

Now the rest of the year I can devote to other passions: knitting and drinking (not necessarily at the same time, of course)

Yay!
